My adventure on Swan Hellenic's new ship Vega
Final leg of my SH Vega story

First of all, I must apologies for the delay in sending this. I wanted to wait until I go home for better WIFI coverage and for the life of me, I don’t know where the past few weeks have gone! I had dinner with friends last week whom receive my blog’s, they asked how the trip finish up which prompted me to continue the story, again, apologies.

You would have received the video interview of the Captain, I’ll be sending the interview I did onboard with the chef and, my 3 day experience in Paris, stay tuned for those.

In my last story, we were cruising back to Iceland. The crossing from Greenland was much kinder to us on this occasion with the swell only a couple of meters. With the ships stabilizers, we hardly felt it. Overall, I loved the experience of on SH Vega. There were a couple of small things I have suggested they enhance on-board, more to do with marketing etc. Small things that a lot of people probably wouldn’t even notice. As previously mentioned, SH Vega is very well built and run. Captain Kai and his team are excellent. I’m going out on a limb here but I’d definitely recommend it. If you want butlers and hatted chef’s, then best choose another cruise line, this would not be for you. It’s marketed as sophisticated elegance and that what it is, for expedition its perfect, relaxed, great food, accommodation, well built ship that can go through one meter thick ice, all-inclusive and well-designed area to disembark on zodiacs, what else do you need?

Arriving back into Iceland, I spent the day on the East Coast hiking to a very spectacular waterfall (main picture above). Honestly, Iceland scenery is spectacular, I’ve been 3 times now and cannot wait to go back. Mid evening, I flew back to Reykjavik landing in the domestic airport which is 10 minutes from downtown! I was excited to spend two more nights in Reykjavik, I love this city. This time, I stayed at Hotel Borg, I’ve stayed there a few times, its 5 star and located in the middle of town, walking distance all the main areas.

If you do find yourself in Reykjavik, make sure you allocate a couple of hours and visit Fly Over Iceland, https://www.flyovericeland.com  wow what an experience this is, one of if not the best rides I’ve ever been on, a great way to see what Iceland has to offer without leaving your seat!

Iceland is not for the price conscious traveler, yes, its expensive but well worth the experience. I flew on Iceland Air, they fly out of most European Capitals and also, direct into most USA cities too, its actually a massive airport and hub. Paris is 3 hours or you could fly back via the USA, New York in only about 4 hours!

My next story is about my Paris stopover. I had too, yes had to as Vietnam Airlines don’t fly everyday out of Paris, someone has to do it!

All the best,

Brett
